Light-resistant liquid crystal
Non-alkenyl liquid crystals break through the limitations of conventional alkenyl liquid crystals.
In liquid crystal compositions used for TVs, mobile phones, and PCs, alkenyl liquid crystals are employed to improve response speed. However, with the increase in display brightness, the degradation associated with the photochemical reactions of alkenyl liquid crystals has drawn attention, and light stabilizers have been used to maintain high reliability. Nevertheless, there are issues with the inability to use light stabilizers in PDLC and PSLC, which involve radical reactions, and there is a demand for non-alkenyl solutions for spatial light modulators that require adaptation to higher brightness, although this results in slower response speeds. Additionally, there are problems such as a narrower temperature range for liquid crystals, making them unsuitable for automotive applications. Therefore, we developed non-alkenyl liquid crystals to solve these issues and filed patents in the United States, China, the EU, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan, securing our rights. We have already begun incorporating them into automotive applications and have started expanding into high-brightness LCOS and other technologies.
